History

Archeological places reveal a human activity since the Gallo-Roman time. At the Middle Age, lots of defensive fiefdoms were built around Thollet and on the shores of the Benaize.

The cottage was built in 1730, during the Renaissance. There were 3 annex buildings : one where the wheat was milled thanks to the strengh of the river (working with a wheel), the mill, where the flour was stocked, and the oven, with the bread oven. The Mill and the Oven supplied the surroundings in flour and bread. Their owners were a community of monks, living in the farm of the Cluzeau.

With the appearance of flourmills, the Mill and the Oven were disused in 1929. In 2001, there were renovated in cottages.

The old pathes taken by countrymen were converted in lovely walking trails, called "la Font de la Fiole" and they offer a beautiful unobstructed view on the region
